Within the transnational Erasmus+ project “POSITIVE – Wellbeing&Resilience in Youth Work for Social Change”, the consortium, composed of five organisations from four countries, has finalised the Transnational Report of Study No. 2, entitled: “Ready for positive and supportive organizations for practitioners in youth work?”.
Study No. 2 analysed the extent to which youth organisations and organisations working with young people in the partner countries are prepared to become positive and supportive environments for practitioners, staff members and volunteers.
The report is based on data collected through questionnaires addressed to practitioners and organisational leaders, interviews and focus groups carried out in the four partner countries. It provides an overview of the level of organisational readiness across five key dimensions: leadership and supervision, organisational culture, wellbeing and burnout prevention, communication and participation, and organisational resources and adaptability.
The study highlights that organisations in the partner countries are ready in terms of values, intentions and relationships, but not yet sufficiently ready in terms of stable organisational systems. Organisational culture, inclusion and psychological safety emerge as common strengths, while wellbeing, mental health and burnout prevention remain the most fragile dimensions.
Supportive leadership, communication and peer solidarity are present, but they still depend too much on individuals, informal relationships and goodwill, rather than on clear, consistent and shared mechanisms.
The central conclusion is that organisations need to move from informal support towards real organisational infrastructures able to sustain practitioners in the long term.
In addition, the report also includes a Self-Analysis Tool, designed as a practical instrument through which organisations can assess their level of readiness and identify concrete steps to become more positive and supportive environments for practitioners.
