Transnational report Study no. 1 POSITIVE project

Within the transnational Erasmus+ project “POSITIVE – Wellbeing&Resilience in Youth Work for Social Change”, the consortium, composed of five organisations from four countries, has finalised the Transnational Report of Study No. 1, entitled: “Attitudes and beliefs of organizations towards Wellbeing&Resilience of practitioners in youth work”.

The study analysed how youth organisations and organisations working with young people in Poland, Romania, Spain and the Netherlands understand, value and support the wellbeing and resilience of practitioners, staff members, volunteers and coordinators involved in youth work.

The report is based on a mixed-methods approach, including questionnaires addressed to practitioners and organisational leaders, interviews and focus groups carried out in the four partner countries. The research explored key aspects such as the recognition of wellbeing as an organisational priority, organisations’ responsibility towards practitioners, the role of leadership, organisational culture, psychological safety, organisational learning and the systemic understanding of resilience.

The study highlights that organisations in the partner countries increasingly recognise the importance of practitioners’ wellbeing and resilience for the quality, continuity and sustainability of youth work activities. However, the analysis also shows that this recognition is not yet sufficiently translated into stable organisational practices. Support for practitioners often remains informal, based on solidarity, empathy, flexible leadership or team relationships, but it needs to be strengthened through clear routines, supervision, reflective spaces, psychological safety, workload monitoring and feedback mechanisms followed by concrete action.

The main conclusion is that practitioners’ wellbeing should not be treated as an individual responsibility or as a secondary element of youth work, but as an essential part of organisational quality and of a healthy, resilient and sustainable organisational climate.
