WENUS (Wood and Furniture Industry New Skills for a Green and Digital Future) is an Erasmus+ KA220-VET project aimed at supporting the green and digital transition of the European wood and furniture sector. The project addresses the growing skills gap caused by the increasing adoption of Circular Economy principles, Industry 4.0 technologies and advanced manufacturing processes, particularly among vocational education and training (VET) learners, trainers and industry professionals.
The project brings together partners from different European countries to identify emerging skills needs and develop innovative training resources that respond to current and future labour market demands. Through a collaborative approach involving education providers, research organisations and industry stakeholders, WENUS promotes sustainable production practices, resource efficiency and digital innovation within the furniture value chain.
Key project results include a comprehensive training programme covering Circular Economy, sustainability, digitalisation, Industry 4.0 technologies and additive manufacturing; a trainer’s guide to support educational delivery; practical learning activities based on real industry challenges; and an open-access digital learning platform. The platform hosts learning modules, self-assessment tests linked to certification, downloadable resources, video tutorials and interactive 3D printing exercises designed to facilitate hands-on learning.
By strengthening both green and digital competences, WENUS contributes to a more resilient, competitive and sustainable furniture sector while supporting lifelong learning, innovation and the objectives of the European Green Deal and the Digital Decade.
