PATTERNS project aims to train operators working with young people on how to intervene in emergency situations through informal education. It also seeks to strengthen international collaboration among civil society organizations, public institutions, and research entities, fostering cooperation among peoples to promote intercultural dialogue and the spread of common European values.
In July 2022, the Nonviolent Action European Movement (MEAN) met with Ukrainian civil society
organisations in Kyiv. During the two-day event filled with meetings and reflections, the
thematic group “Children and more” highlighted the need to strengthen the knowledge of
operators involved in emergency psychosocial intervention to better support Ukrainian youth
who have not gone to the front and their families.
EDI Onlus joined MEAN following its participation in this event. Having a team dedicated to
emergency psychosocial work with young people. EDI Onlus recognized the need identified by
the group and began to develop the PATTERNS project, involving additional partners motivated
to work in this field: ACT FOR UKRAINE and NON-FORMAL EDUCATION FOR YOUTH from
Ukraine, HELLAS FOR US based in Western Macedonia, Greece, the MUNICIPALITY OF
MARACENA in Andalusia, FREDERICK UNIVERSITY in Cyprus, and the organization ILA –
INTERNATIONALE ARBEIDSVERENIGING based in the Netherlands and operating in several
countries.
