Research in the fields of education and training has to seek solutions that solve real, relevant and practical problems within the social environment these are developed. Constant and quick social changes, migration, and globalisation confirm the need for a continuous process of training and updated knowledge. In this sense, the training of educators is of the outmost importance for the development and relevance of educational organizations.

To support trainers who deal with heterogeneous groups, not only on a training level, but also on a cultural, ideological and/or religious level, the project aims to improve the resources available to educators and other staff, facilitate communication with learners and propose methodologies and tools which could be used in the learning process. Through the project’s materials, new approaches are sought to reduce disparities in access and participation in non-formal education, addressing issues such as discrimination, segregation and racism.

The project produced two main outputs. A Handbook which aims to equip adult educators who work with diverse groups of learners – these can include people with protected characteristics, who are also at risk of social exclusion- with knowledge and know-how, in order to deliver educational material in the most inclusive manner and achieve the most optimum results.

And a digital training Moodle platform. The second output of the project is a virtual classroom, using the contents developed under Output 1.

The online tool and Handbook support educators, youth workers, educational leaders and support staff in their professional development. Educators can use our outputs to acquire the necessary skills to better address inclusion and diversity within the classroom, including cultural and linguistic differences, through the use of more diverse and better adapted teaching styles.
