FederlegnoArredo is the Italian Federation of Woodworking, Cork, Furniture, Lighting and Furnishing Industries. Founded in 1945, it associates more than 2100 enterprises, ranging from SMEs to industry leaders, and includes 11 sectorial associations, 8 affiliated associations and a Young Entrepreneurs Group. Each association includes member companies that range from the first importers of raw materials (wood) to semi-finished products (panels) the finished product (wooden construction products, interior finishing, furniture, office furniture, and lightning equipment). The associations are entrusted with the protection of their respective areas of competence and the treatment of problems of specific interest to the sectors themselves.

FederlegnoArredo is member of Confindustria  -the Italian Manufacturers’ Association- and represents the core of the Italian wood and furniture industry.

In addition to institutional representation, it is also a social partner from the employers’ side at national level. Through  its staff, it offers the following services to companies: support in internationalization and export promotion, through the organization of B2Bs in third countries; access to qualified economic data about our sector (export trends, data about new markets etc.), consultancy services on environmental and safety regulations and technical standards; consultancy services on the protection of Intellectual property rights, in Italy and abroad; consultancy services on custom and export procedures; access to up-skilling education and training for associate companies’ employees. Through its affiliate society (FederlegnoArredo Eventi SPA) ,they organize the biggest international fair for the furniture sector, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, which takes place every year in Milan, and welcomes more than 300,000 trade operators per year, the majority of which from abroad.

Within the Federation, sector associations operate according to the criteria of product and / or destination affinity. At the time of application for membership, the companies require the classification of the sector activity of the prevailing activity or any variations in the framework itself may be decided by the Council of the Federation, having heard the opinion of the sector association or associations concerned . The companies that perform the most work are included in the sector association indicated by the company as prevalent.

FederlegnoArredo promotes as well the Italian wood and furnishing industrial policy, collaborating with the major Italian and international institutions on a regular basis.  FederlegnoArredo represents one of the most important Italian manufacturing sector and operates mainly in the Milan headquarter and through the offices in Rome and Brussels.
