Innovators’ Training on Intellectual Properties

On April 10, 2025, Project EVA conducted a webinar titled “Intellectual Property (IP): The Value, the Protection, the Challenges,” featuring Ms. Faye Orfanou, Tech Transfer Specialist, Lawyer, and Managing Partner of Science to Business, as the presenter. The session offered participants a comprehensive examination of various forms of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and their significance in fostering economic value for innovators. Ms. Orfanou delved into the processes involved in establishing, managing, and protecting IPRs, addressed prevalent misconceptions, and underscored the critical importance of strategic planning in effective IP management.

The interactive nature of the webinar fostered engaging discussions, with attendees posing several questions on topics such as the definition and types of intellectual property, distinctions between IP and non-IP assets, and specifics of copyrights. Further dialogue delved into managing IP within EU-funded projects, assessing potential IP assets, IP pre-assessment of technologies and methods, partner IP contributions, and considerations regarding resources and costs. This collaborative exchange underscored the importance of effective IP management in research and development endeavors.
