This project will work to globalise and digitalise VET and AE providers in response to the demands of the international, dynamic and modern labour market.
Thanks to rapid advancements in global communications and transport infrastructure, our economies are becoming ever more globalised. This globalisation generates new sources of employment and prompts workforces to migrate.
However, in order to cope with this trend, VET and AE educational policies have to be internationalised accordingly so as to ensure the quality and relevance of the outcomes vis-à-vis global labour market needs.
The following national strategies make up an essential part of this internationalisation:
(1) Integrating transnational learning material into existing programmes of study, including topics such as languages, cross-cultural skills, digital literacy, international norms/standards, etc.;
(2) Fostering international experience through training/work placements abroad; and
(3) Internationalising the ‘form’ of qualifications through transnational development of joint qualifications, mutual recognition of ‘foreign’ qualifications, credit transfer and interoperability of qualifications.
In order to achieve these goals, VET and AE providers should:
- Adopt a common methodology for modular learning, based on learning outcomes and micro-credentials
- Participate in the European Digital Credentials Infrastructure, which is being developed as part of the Europass platform
As such, this project aims to help public and private VET and adult education providers to transition to a certification model based on micro-credentials and to introduce digital tools for issuing digital certificates and digital credentials, which are compatible with the Europass Digital Credentials Infrastructure (EDCI).
As part of this digitalisation process, the project also works to encourage VET and adult education providers to move away from paper-orientated systems and to issue all documentation directly to an online learner portfolio.
This will ensure that VET and AE providers’ administrative certification processes are faster, more transparent and efficient for learners and training providers.
The project will produce the following results:
Project Result 1: Mapping of common existing curricula for accredited trainings for AE and VET education and a benchmark report including recommendations for the development of a common methodology.
Project result 2: Common methodology for adaptation of existing curricula, to the modular learning (based on learning outcomes and micro-credentials).
Project Result 3: Infrastructure for digital certification compatible with Europass model and digital credentials.
Project Result 4: Guideline for VET/AE providers how to introduce micro-credentials digital credential model to their systems for certification.
Project Result 5: Policy recommendations for improving the national quality assurance systems in VETs and AEs by implementing standards and principles from European models.
All materials will be made freely available and promoted internationally on the EPALE platform.
